Currie Avenue Partnership

The Currie Avenue Partnership is a collaboration between the downtown business council, downtown faith congregations, and the Minneapolis and Hennepin County governments.  Funding raised by the partnership will be used to hire 10 case managers to house a total of 150 individuals experiencing homelessness who are currently cycling through the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities shelters in downtown Minneapolis.  The Family Housing Fund is the financial agent for the Currie Avenue Partnership.  Donations to the program should be made to The Family Housing Fund, Midwest Plaza West, Suite 1650, 801 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55402.  For questions please contact Sam Grabarski, Minneapolis Downtown Council at 612-338-3807; Reverend Dr. Timothy Hart-Andersen, Westminster Presbyterian Church at 612-332-3421; or Reverend Dr. James Gertmenian, Plymouth Congregational Church at 612-871-7400.  To read a Star Tribune feature on the Currie Avenue Partnership, click here

Discount Transit Passes Pilot Project Bill is signed by Governer Pawlenty

The Discount Transit Passes Pilot Project Bill, which was included in the Transportation Omnibus Bill, was passed by both the House and the Senate on May 4th and sent to the Governer for his signature. On May 7th, we learned that the Governer had signed the bill, allowing us to move forward with the development of a Pilot Project. The project allows for 20 agencies who serve the homeless to purchase bus cards and tokens at a discounted rate. The Pilot Project will begin September 1, 2009 and end March 15, 2010. Learn more.
