Philanthropy Task Force
With multi-sector support, we can end homelessness!
The primary objective of the Philanthropy Task Force:
The main charge of the Philanthropy Task Force is to coordinate Heading Home Minnesota’s major fundraising initiatives. In order to fund the 4,000 units of supportive housing deemed necessary to end homelessness, the group has identified a target goal of $78 million from the private sector. As of July, 2008 $34 million has been raised. However, to continue to leverage public support and to jointly finance additional supportive housing this momentum must continue to build. This fundraising initiative is not in competition with nonprofits providing housing and services that address homelessness. Rather, one hundred percent of these funds will directly support these nonprofits. Donations can be directed to a specific nonprofit of donor choice or to the Partners Fund’s flexible pools housed within the Family Housing Fund and Greater Minnesota Housing Fund. It is the goal of the Philanthropy Task Force to cultivate support reflective of the community’s needs including both metro and greater Minnesota communities and the various populations experiencing homelessness.
